Follow on Google News | Encasement covers up at new London Premier Inn and office developmentBy: Encasement Ltd The Clifton House Hotel redevelopment has been carried out by Shepherd Construction, on behalf of Romulus Construction, and not only involved the transformation of the existing building, but also the addition of three new floor levels on top of the existing 6 storey structure to create more than 2,500m2 of high quality office accommodation. Of the 99 ‘Circa’ column casings that were supplied and installed by Encasement on the project, 82 were 450mm diameter, while the balance were slightly smaller at 300mm diameter, as they were located close to the fully glazed walls on the new upper floors and the designers wanted to maximise the views across the city. All of the casings are 3000mm in height and manufactured from 12mm thick pre-formed plywood, which were supplied plain, allowing the casings to be decorated on site to integrate with the interior colour scheme. The Circa casings also provided a lower cost solution to plasterboard and ‘skim’ casings as they are a dry-trade solution, which speeds installation and requires no plaster drying time. The circular shape also improves the aesthetics rather than using square designs normally associated with site fabricated plastered casings. Encasement’s MD, Martin Taylor, said: “Our Circa preformed plywood casings are a commonly used solution in projects of this type, where the developers want to improves the overall aesthetics of a building interior by hiding structural steelwork, yet need a cost effective and easy to install option to help maintain control on the project budget.” You can view our Circa plywood casings (http://www.encasement.co.uk/ End
