New camp Miyala from Robin Pope Safaris

Feb. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Miyala, a quartet of luxury tents in the south of the Liwonde National Park, is due to open in July 2014.  With its foundations now firmly built, Miyala , meaning ‘rocks’ in the local Chichewa language, will encapsulate the modern high-end safari experience.

The camp is being constructed using local sustainable materials, solar power will provide most of the electricity, and efficient, state-of-the-art breeze bed air-conditioning will be installed in each of the four safari tents. Each will comprise a capacious open plan bedroom, lounge, bathroom with freestanding bath, private viewing deck and an outdoor shower.

Nestled at the base of the Chiunguni Hill, with sweeping views of the Chikalogwe plain and the meandering Shire River, Miyala will sleep a maximum of ten people, promising exclusive service and the renowned Robin Pope Safaris personal touch.

Wildlife in the Liwonde National Park includes the black rhino, successfully reintroduced in a sanctuary set up in 1992, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, kudu, sable, bushbuck, yellow baboon and vervet monkey. Predators include the hyena and the extremely elusive leopard. The bird watching is brilliant - spot rare species such as Livingstone’s Flycatcher and Lillian’s Lovebird - and the game viewing experience is enhanced by boat safaris on the Shire River.
