California Governor Candidate Dr. Robert Ornelas Supports The Meruelo Group

Alex Meruelo was born in New York City and moved to Los Angeles, California. He attended Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, CA and received his B.S. from California State University, Long Beach.

He began his career in his father's tuxedo business. In 1985 he opened the first of what became the La Pizza Loca Southern California pizza chain. He expanded his business focus, founding the Meruelo Group, which has grown into a construction and real estate development firm that also owns a bank, Los Angeles-based TV station KWHY-TV, Grand Sierra Resort, and other businesses.

With roots dating to 1986, the Meruelo Group is a minority-owned and operated holding company with vested interests in Construction and Engineering and affiliated interests in Real Estate, Food Services and Private Equity.
