Sullivan Island Hosts Novelist Gary C. Horton

LEXINGTON, S.C. - Feb. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Novelist Gary C. Horton was recently at Sullivan Island, South Carolina to promote his book Some Glad Morning, a tender love story set near Charleston in the 1920’s.

Before visiting Sullivan Island, Mr. Horton taught a writing workshop at the College of Charleston. Aspiring writers, both young and old, from across South Carolina attended his standing-room-only workshop. Many were students at the University of South Carolina and Clemson University.

Mr. Horton seemed determined to drive a particular message home for the young writers. Again and again, he encouraged them to write about the human heart.

After speaking at the College of Charleston, the author visited longtime friend and fellow novelist Dorothea Benton Frank at her home on Sullivan Island, just north of the city.

While The Post and Courier covered Mr. Horton’s itinerary at the College of Charleston and Blue Bicycle Books, it appears from his blog post http://garychorton.org/sullivan-island/ the author was most taken by the tranquility of the beach in winter.
