“Fair Lawn has had a rich history of exceptional people who made their mark not only on their home, but on the country as a whole,” says Christianson. The book covers both town greats and unsung heroes like Millie Perkins, the cover girl and actress who got her start after graduating from Fair Lawn High School; Florence “Flossie” Dobrow, the first woman to be elected Mayor of Fair Lawn who went on to serve for 27 years; and Henry Milnes, the founder of the Boys Club in 1939 whose legacy of dedication to bettering the lives of local youth continues through the Milnes Elementary School named in his honor. The book celebrates 125 of the most famous people of Fair Lawn including comedienne Milton Berle, NBA Sportscaster Hubie Brown, actress Lee Meredith, and Dodgers pitcher Ron Perranoski.
