Bedwetting Knowledge Centre Launched on Website for Healthcare Professionals
Available on www.epgonline.org, the website for healthcare professionals (HCPs) worldwide, the new Bedwetting Knowledge Centre is designed to support general practitioners, urologists and paediatricians involved in the management of patients that suffer from nocturnal enuresis and it can be accessed for free at http://www.epgonline.org/
Nocturnal enuresis has long been misconceived, with a tendency to associate it with psychological issues or consuming liquid before sleep. However, it is now recognised as an identified condition with a medical cause, including over production of urine during the night (nocturnal polyuria), a reduced bladder capacity and impaired arousal from sleep. Successful treatment using evidence-based first line therapies has been shown to bring significant benefits.
Reviewed by Key Opinion Leader Søren Rittig MD, DMSc, the Bedwetting Knowledge Centre aims to raise the profile of nocturnal enuresis among healthcare professionals by providing them with essential screening, diagnosis and appropriate treatment information based around the 2012 practical consensus guidelines for the management. It also contains a question and answer session with Professor Johan Vande Walle in video format.
“There is an ongoing need among healthcare providers for updated information about bedwetting – both with regards to underlying causes, diagnostic management, and proper treatment strategy.” Said Søren Rittig, MD, DMSc (Professor, Consultant, Department of Pediatrics, Nephro-urologic Team at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark) “The epgonline.org Bedwetting Knowledge Centre provides such information and I am convinced that it will be helpful for any HCP involved in the management of patients that suffer from the condition”.
Published by EPG Health Media (Europe), epgonline.org is an independent website dedicated to providing healthcare professionals with free access to the most recent best practice diagnosis and patient management guidance. In addition to the library of disease Knowledge Centres, the website includes a database of prescription drugs in 9 European languages, clinical trial reports, treatment guidelines, medical news, journal articles, multimedia, social media conversations and apps; all arranged around 50 disease topic areas.
The Bedwetting Knowledge Centre is sponsored by Ferring Pharmaceuticals, a research-driven biopharmaceutical company devoted to identifying, developing and marketing innovative products in the fields of reproductive health, urology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and osteoarthritis.
