Flagler County, FL – The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, the Flagler County Airport and Realty Exchange 445-DAVE will be hosting the Race of the Runways at the Flagler County Airport, Saturday, February 15, 2014, 8:30 AM.

Race of the Runways 2014 is part of the Palm Coast Race Series. The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach has teamed up with other health and wellness initiatives to help get people “moving”. To encourage people to get active, including a discount registration sponsored by the Florida Hospital Flagler to get youth and families active and healthy, we are offering 1 mile, 2 mile and 5K walk option, as well as a ¼ mile Kiddie Dash for youth (1yr – 9 yr). The Rotary encourages people of all ages to use this event to set a goal and Just Move. In recognition of Valentine’s Day, they are offering a “Sweethearts Forever” registration for $45, a savings of $5. They are also premiering a new award for ‘Best Overall Couple’ for sweethearts with lowest time.

The event is co-sponsored by the Palm Coast Observer, Florida Hospital Flagler, Flagler County Tourist Development Council, Curley Tail Designs, Alliance Financial Partners, pcBike, Gerling Travel, Panacea Integrative Heath Coaching, and Rue, Ziffra and Caldwell.

New this year for participants is a pancake breakfast with eggs, sausage, orange juice and pancakes for $5 (children 9 and under are free with a participating adult).  Each pancake breakfast ticket will be entered in drawing for a flight in a CJ6 at the event sponsored by Blue Sky Yakrobotics.

“Pre-flight check-in” to pick-up participation packets and event tee shirts and the final time to pre-register is February 14, 2014 from 4-7 PM at the Airport Administration Building at the Airport. Day of event registration begins at 7:00 AM at the Airport with a suggested donation of $30 for 5K runners (cash or check only). Goodie bags and t-shirts for first 250 paid registrations (adult size shirts only). Custom awards will be presented to the top three finishers in the male and female age groups, 5-year categories, as well as Best Overall Male and Best Overall Female, Masters Male and Masters Female (over 40). Grand Masters Male and Grand Masters Female (over 50).  The runner with the best time will be presented with #1 for our next event along with free registration.

The funds raised from this event help support the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach projects.  Some of these include: Scholarships for adults and students, Project Share which provides holiday gifts and food for needy families Flagler County Education Foundation, world-wide polio eradication, and a local project building multipurpose fields in Bunnell just to name a few.

About the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach:  The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach was chartered in November 1991 and currently has 32 members; we are part of Rotary District 6970.  Our membership is a most compatible group of local business and community leaders from the fields of business, law, education, real estate, and government; including those who have retired from successful pursuits in these fields. During the winter, our attendance swells with the coming of our Snow-Birds. All are welcome, of course, and are included in all our social and civic activities. Our Program Speakers typically address a variety of interesting and important topics.
