PRLog -- FLorida Advanced Technological Education (FLATE) Center, the National Science Foundation regional center of excellence in Tampa, FL, will host the third, Florida Colleges Energy Education Forum on Jan. 31, 2014. The one day Forum will be held at the Institute of Energy and Environmental Sustainability at Palm Beach State College in partnership with the Florida Energy Systems Consortium. The Forum brings together community college educators and energy industry experts from across the state to share current/future workforce needs, and generate ideas on developing curriculum to meet industry needs. Discussion topics will include: Energy, Electricity and Transportation;
Sustainable Energy Resources and an afternoon panel discussion focusing on turbines and advanced fuels. “We're excited to be partnering with Palm Beach State College for this year's energy education forum and look forward to providing attendees with a range of energy-related presentations”
said Nina Stokes, FESC project manager. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in a “power analytics” professional development activity led by Professor Oleg Andric from Palm Beach State College. Dr. Marilyn Barger, P.I. and Executive Director of FLATE will provide FLATE and EST2 updates. “This Forum provides an excellent opportunity for energy industry professionals and educators to share ideas that help ensure training and education align with industry’s need for skilled workers that are ready to hit the ground running” Stokes said.
