About UServe & the Volunteer Management Certification Program:

The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism, better known as UServeUtah, is part of the office of the Lieutenant Governor and functions under the umbrella of the Utah Department of Heritage and Arts. Their purpose is to “enable individuals, communities and organizations in Utah to benefit from the service, power, skills, and passion of volunteers”. Their vision is to have “vibrant, productive communities with involved, responsible citizens” that will “strengthen Utah communities through the power of service and volunteerism”.

Following its mission, UServeUtah has been instrumental in helping Utah become the top state in the nation for volunteering for the past seven years. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporation_for_National_and...) report, Utah supplies an average of 837,650 volunteers who dedicate more than 177 million hours of service annually, equivalent to $3.8 billion annually. Their goal is to “build upon their success and encourage even more Utahns to volunteer on a regular basis and work with organizations that need their particular skills and abilities”.
The Commission seeks to build and cultivate capacity in the volunteer and service community, recognize volunteer leaders, and inspire statewide volunteerism through collaboration and consensus. The Commission actively promotes volunteerism and functions as a clearinghouse, consultant, and training resource to volunteer centers throughout the state, including campus service, and engagement centers to expand public/private partnerships and volunteer mobilization capacity.
UServeUtah, through local volunteer connectors, offers Volunteer Management Training throughout the state. Volunteer connectors become certified Volunteer Management Trainers through the Volunteer Management Training Certification course offered through UServeUtah. When certified, these trainers then schedule and teach volunteer management courses to nonprofits in their communities.
