Young Sam Returns To His "Jerking" Roots with New Album "The King Is Back"

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- A new year means new goals and Young Sam has big plans for 2014.  After smashing the clubs and the streets and helping pioneer the “Jerk Movement,” Young Sam is about to Turn Up even more with the March 5th release of his new album “The King Is Back”.

Dropping on his own label Grind Til We Rich Records, Inc., the South Central California MC is determined not to take any L’s as The King Is Back is filled with more heaters for his core “Jerk” audience as well as showcasing his growth as a proven MC which has been his goal on his most recent projects; spitting on real topics as he comes of age.

The King Is Back jumps off with the Disko Boogie (E-40, T.I., Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown) produced club smash “Stop Actin”, the new single and music video which is flooding the streets of L.A. The music video which has already created an industry buzz  was directed by Hector Toro and James Bahman for TORO FILMS. Currently going for spins at radio, “Stop Actin” has already garnered the support from a host of spin doctors including The L.A. Leakers and D.J. Young California, who’ve incorporated it into their mixes.

With several iTunes releases and mixtapes under his belt including King Of Jerk, Jerkin Can’t Die, and Trapfornia, Sam has a point to prove with his new album and that statement is he’s not a one dimensional MC and his music also touches on real life issues.  Christened the “King Of Jerk” by his loyal subjects, Young Sam describes his latest project.

“It’s called The King Is Back because it’s me returning to ‘Turn Up’ music.  It’s me coming back to the jerking music and letting them know I’m still here and taking it worldwide. I have my other styles too but I’m letting my core fan base know I’m combining both and that I’m not forgetting about the movement.  My fans gave me that name so I’m letting them know I’m staying true to them but I have to grow as well and that’s not all the music on this project, says Young Sam

An independent force to be reckoned with, Young Sam continues to field off several offers from the majors as he drops his latest album and has already earned the respect of West Coast heavyweights like Snoop Dogg and E-40 as well as his peers like Tyga, YG and Nipsey Hussle.  Soulja Boy was also impressed with Sam’s hustle and talent and even wanted to sign him after the two collaborated on a few records.  Errol “Pock” LeMonious, Young Sam’s business partner and co-CEO of Grind Til We Rich Records, Inc., explains,

“They know who he is and pay him his homage.  They are proud of him to get to that level without asking for a handout and getting verses.  He does his own thing out here and that’s what people respect, his independent hustle.  We’re not chasing a label deal because we’re already moving as a label.”

That respect was noticed because Sam’s independent grind has already taken him across the globe to several countries like England, Amsterdam, Germany, Holland and The Netherlands.  50,000 downloads on iTunes of his Jerking Can’t Die project and over 16 million YouTube views from his previous releases also landed him on BET’s “106 & Park” without the backing of a major label.  In addition, his hard work earned him a deal with Fullscreen, YouTube’s parent company, as well as a paid sneaker endorsement contract with international footwear company, VLADO.

The King Is Backwill be distributed by Empire and will also include ratchet production from Isis and Larry On The Beat (Cali Swag District) who laid the backdrop for cuts like “Swaggy” and “I’m Gucci,” which features fellow Grind Til We Rich Records, Inc. artist Young Jak.  Sam’s versatility and escape from his “Jerk” comfort zone can be heard on tracks like “When The Sky Falls” featuring songstress Jaedon Zoe.  Young Sam exclaims the departure, stating,

“I got the clubs on lock but I also deal with real life struggle.  Some songs are strictly entertainment but others help you get through stuff and music is my outlet for that. So now I want to combine the two and feed both worlds.  It’s hard out here but we still can be turnt up and be cool.  Samuel Hendrix is multi-dynamic and with The King Is Back, you’re now getting all sides of me on one project.”

Donning his CEO cap, Young Sam declares that Grind Til We Rich is more than just his label’s name but how he and his click live their lives.  The inspiring motto was his drive to escape the dangers of growing up in South Central L.A.

“With my label and my music, I want to show the worlds that it’s possible to make it from the hood.  I come from nothing, growing up on food stamps and now I’m living my dream and getting into the game independently without a co-sign or stamp from a major artist.  I’m showing you don’t necessarily need that and can stand on your own and make it.

We’re growing into a production company and being a platform for different talent and we’re cultivating and putting our stamp on everything from music to skate boarding, to production and engineering.  Grind Till We Rich is giving artist a platform.”
