Eldorado Climbing Walls Completes Largest Collegiate High Performance Climbing Wall Construction

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but at the University of Colorado Boulder, it took a community to build a custom climbing wall. CU Boulder had their students in mind when choosing their climbing wall construction company, and after extensive one-on-one interviews to find out how each company could best meet the needs of their students and programming efforts, the university chose Eldorado Climbing Walls to construct their new climbing facility.

A part of the university’s new recreation center expansion, CU Boulder boasts having a climbing wall that is the largest high performance climbing wall of any college in the country, with over 7,000 square feet of climbing terrain. The facility offers an array of top-roping and bouldering terrain, as well as multiple crack-climbing options. A SHOTRock (http://www.eldowalls.com/our-walls/shotrock/) bouldering section mimics the exact look and strata of the nearby Colorado Flatirons.

The project was confronted during its construction with major hurdles such as the Boulder Flood of 2013, but thanks to the dedication of the Eldorado Road Crew and close communication between the Eldo team and the general contractor, the project was completed on-time, to spec, with no compromises. “It was important for us to stay on target for our completion date,” says Jerad Wells, CEO at Eldorado Climbing Walls. He continues, “So we made sure that we did everything in our power to ensure communication was efficient and productive, and our on-site team put in a stellar effort to create a high quality end-product while under pressure.”
