SYDNEY, Australia - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- SYDNEY, NSW—Businesses and bargain hunters have been buying up the former contents of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre through a long series of timed, online auctions. The auctions, which commenced in December last year, are set to finish on the 4th of February.

“These auctions should be of significant interest to the community, particularly small business owners, who can access world class quality equipment at auction prices,” said Tim O’Mara of O’Maras Valuers & Auctioneers, which is managing the sales.

The landmark sale includes fixtures and fittings from the entire site. Much of the café, restaurant, conference room, and entertainment equipment housed in the vast facility have already been sold, including three grand pianos and an extensive list of IT and audio-visual equipment.

Still to come include auctions featuring:

• Crockery, cutlery and glassware for 5,000 people

• Computers

• IT equipment

• Speakers

• Hoists

• Lighting

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) closed its doors in December after 25 years of operation. The site will make way for Darling Harbour Live, the new $1 billion entertainment, conference and exhibition facilities to be constructed during the next three years by DHL in conjunction with the NSW Government.

Anyone is able to view the contents auction catalogues online. People over the age of 18 are able to register to bid. Up-to-date auction information and registration are available at www.omaras.com.au
