VENTURA, Calif. - Jan. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- VENTURA, CALIF.--The Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County (WIB) is seeking nominations for its 2014 Annual WIB Awards. The selected winners will have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing workforce development in Ventura County. The nomination deadline is March 14. Winners will be announced at the WIB Annual Meeting on June 12th at the Ventura County Office of Education (5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo)

         "Exceptional leaders throughout Ventura County are committed to ensuring that our local workforce is ready with the skills needed to help local businesses meet the ongoing challenges of the global economy," says Mike Soules, WIB chair. "The WIB Awards publicly recognize their outstanding contributions to growing the strength of this region."

Nominate an individual, employer, organization or partnership in one or more of these categories:

WIB Youth Opportunity Award - for providing internships or employment opportunities that will grow and strengthen Ventura County's future workforce.

WIB Collaborative Action Award – for a partnership that helps to meet employer workforce needs, improves education/workforce training and/or supports business expansion/retention in Ventura County.

WIB Champion for Prosperity Award - for supporting workforce development in Ventura County through job creation, job retention, business expansion or business attraction.

WIB Leadership Award - for a role model whose efforts or accomplishments embody the spirit and purpose of workforce development in Ventura County.

        WIB Award recipients for 2013 were the Port of Hueneme (WIB Youth Opportunity Award), Ventura County Medical Center/Santa Paula Hospital’s Auxiliary (WIB Youth Opportunity Award), Tavi Udrea, global training and development director for Haas Automation, Inc. (WIB Collaborative Action Award), Assemblyman Jeff Gorell (WIB Champion for Prosperity Award), and Captain David Sasek, Naval Base Ventura County (WIB Leadership Award).
