This award comes at the end of a very exciting year for Espresso which has seen the launch of two new services Espresso Coding and Espresso PD Solutions, a huge investment in new content ready for curriculum 2014 for its much–loved Espresso Primary service and, of course, its acquisition by Discovery Communications, whose Discovery Education is the global leader in standards-based digital content for K-12.
Together with the resources of Discovery Education, Espresso Education is well placed to continue its mission to transform education by encouraging the true integration of technology into classroom instruction through the use of powerful and compelling digital content. Both companies share an extensive library of high-quality video clips, teacher training and fully integrated lesson plans that are approved by the government in which they operate.
“We are so proud of Espresso Education and all of its accomplishments in the digital education sphere,” stated James Rosenstock, President of Discovery Education International. “The future looks bright and we are excited to be able to continue to innovate in the UK digital education market.”
Commenting on the company’s success, Ben Stringer, Managing Director of Espresso Education said, “This year, Espresso Education have been focusing our efforts on helping schools succeed with the new curriculum for 2014 by developing engaging new content and services, teacher support and tailored CPD options. This award is a great acknowledgement of these efforts.”
Now in its 16th year, the Bett Awards recognise distinctive and diverse digital education resources that meet the needs of the education industry. This year saw 25% increase in entries for the awards so competition was tougher than ever. The judging panel, comprising leading education sector stakeholders, look for organisations and products that show a clear understanding of the sector and its needs. On recognising Espresso for this honour the judges commented, “This well established provider of high quality educational digital learning content has responded well to the changing demands of the new national curriculum.
