IRVINE, Calif. - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- IRVINE, California, (January 20, 2014)   -  Water bottles?  Check! Mile markers?  Check!  Fantastic free food arranged? Check!  Thesmall group of Northwood High parents planning this year’s Timberwolf 5K Run/Walk are eagerly anticipating another top-shelf running draw and an inclusive community event.  This year they hope to attract over 1,600 participants.

This year’s Timberwolf 5K Run/Walk is slated for Saturday, February 15th at Northwood High in Irvine, and will feature a USATF-certified course with micro-chip timing, awards in a variety of categories and a purpose, as a generous portion of the proceeds will go directly to Families Forward.  The 2012 and 2013 events each enabled a donation to Families Forward in excess of $7,000.  A 5K Walk and a 1K Fun Run will round out the event, making it something the whole family can enjoy.

Race Louis Muniz, Track and Field Coach at Northwood High, says, "This is a fantastic event and we will be bringing in people from all over Southern California and beyond.  The course offers a refreshing challenge to the serious racer and a scenic journey for casual runners and walkers.  The first mile has two hills that will be a fair test to everyone, and then the course winds towards breathtaking views before heading back to a fast and fun downhill finish in front of cheering crowds."

Northwood Booster Co-Presidents Dan Bowers and Mark Locklear describe the Timberwolf 5K as a fantastic, “feel-good” event.  “We are excited to offer something that will bring so many people together for a great time and a great cause, benefiting Families Forward and Northwood High School.  The atmosphere will be electric with competitive and casual runners, students and faculty, good music, local vendors, and plenty of food.  And all the while, benefiting families and children in need along with Northwood students.”
