Follow on Google News | World Class Cinema comes to EumundiWorld Class Cinema comes to Eumundi Eumundi World Cinema is a new film club for grown-ups based on the Sunshine Coast aiming to take you around the world one movie at a time. Screening monthly, and packed with award winning feature films and shorts, it aims to promote cultural awareness and understanding but above all to entertain in a lively social environment. ‘Movie tragics’ throughout the coast will be exposed to a fine selection of drama, romance and comedy from the Americas, Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, India and Asia. A Classic Movie Night and an Australian Movie Night will also feature during the 11 month season, which commences 12 February. Movies are shown on a large indoor screen with equipment supplied by Trent Harvison of ‘Starry Night Outdoor Movies’. To make the night more of an ‘experience’ For an individual membership of $60, and a minimum age of 18, members will enjoy 11 feature length international movies and 22 shorts from a different region each month and have the opportunity to vote for the following month’s feature. The February feature from Italy, chosen by members, is the multi-award winning “Ladri di biciclette” (Bicycle Thieves). Also known as The Bicycle Thief, the black and white neorealist film is a work of outstanding artistry from director Vittorio de Sica. Released in 1948 the film portrays the poverty and desperation of a father searching for his stolen bicycle and provides an unforgettable picture of post-war Italy. The Association is a voluntary organization and any profits at the end of the season will be donated to fund film industry development on the Sunshine Coast, and toward the upkeep of the Eumundi School of Arts building.
