CONNAUGHT PLACE, India - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The decision on dates for Sri Amarnath Yatra announced after the 26th Board meeting at New Delhi. Supervised by Governor N N Vohra, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Chairman, the board came to the decision to commence the religious Yatra from 28th June 2014 and to end the 44-day journey on the eve of Raksha Bandhan on 10th August 2014. Pilgrims can start to register for the journey from 1st March 2014.

Several new amendments have been decided during the meeting for this year’s Yatra. Navin K Choudhary, SASB Chief Executive Officer, said “A number of complaints had been received against duplication of Yatra Permit Forms which, till Yatra 2013, were being printed by the Banks designated by the board to undertake registration of pilgrims.”

To ensure that no illegal duplication of registration forms is carried out this year, devotees will receive a high security “Yatra Permit”. During the meeting, a new design for “Yatra Permit Registration Forms” was approved by the committee on which an Ashoka Pillar watermark will be printed along with a micro-text line which cannot be seen with naked eyes. Also, a shrine board logo will be printed using blue fluorescent ink which can be only seen under UV Ray.

Other changes made include the shortening of duration of Yatra from 55 days to 44 days for security and safety of travelers. Also, this year 7500 Yatris, can register for pilgrimage on daily per route basis. The food menu served to pilgrims is also been revised by the Expert Committee. New revised food menu will be applied from this year to every Langar organizations and food stalls and shops in each destination. New guidelines are also been designed to provide health care and sanitation facilities to tourists, which also involve preserving the environment along the journey.

Regarding Compulsary Health Certificate, Navin Choudhary, CEO, SASB said, “The format of CHC has been uploaded on the website of the Shrine Board which can be printed by an intending pilgrim”.

He added, “Only a CHC which has been issued after February 1, 2014 will be considered valid.”

It has also been decided that travelers below 13 years of age and above 75 years of age are not allowed. Six weeks pregnant women also cannot undertake this religious journey for health reasons.
