Quartet of Cambridge offers for Bedales students

PETERSFIELD, U.K. - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Four Bedales students are celebrating after receiving offers from the University of Cambridge on courses in the sciences, humanities and Music. Three of the four students are current Sixth Formers who hope to secure the grades this summer to take up their places, and one completed his A Levels in 2013.

Deputy Head Boy, Vincent Hasselbach, has been offered a place to read Human, Social & Political Sciences at St John’s College, Robin Allez’s offer is for Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Corpus Christi College, and Dan Rasbash’s offer is for Asian & Middle Eastern Studies at Emmanuel College. Former student Toby Matimong has been offered a place to read Music at Homerton College after achieving a D2 (equivalent to A*) in Music Pre-U last summer. He is currently developing his Music skills as a teaching assistant.

Three of the students, Vincent, Robin and Toby, were taught at Bedales Prep, Dunhurst, before progressing to Bedales senior school and sixth form.

In addition to Cambridge, Bedales students have received offers from leading UK and overseas universities and colleges including Bristol, Exeter, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Bath, Kings College, UCL, Durham, Imperial, Warwick, York, Leeds, Southampton, Loughborough and Bard (US) to study a variety of courses including Classics, Biology, Music, Fashion and Textile Design, Psychology, Philosophy, Portuguese and Spanish, Arabic and Spanish, Adult Nursing, Computing, Natural Sciences, Law, Chemistry, Theatre and Performance, English Literature, Medical Sciences, Politics and Sociology, Economics, Zoology, French and Italian, Anthropology, Industrial Design and Technology, and History.

Commenting on the offers, Keith Budge (http://www.bedales.org.uk/keith-budge/), Headmaster of Bedales School, said: "Congratulations to our sixth formers. We are delighted with the range and quality of the offers received so far this year and pleased that the hard work and fast academic progress of these students have been recognised by leading universities and colleges. These results are further testament to the quality of a Bedales education, and the benefits of studying Bedales Assessed Courses in lieu of GCSEs. It is also very satisfying to see that three of the successful Cambridge applicants progressed to Bedales from our own Prep School, Dunhurst.”
