WEST CHESTER, Ohio - Jan. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Michael Murphy and iTunes

To-date, roughly 500-million-plus users are registered on iTunes. To put that number in perspective, the current population of the United States is over 315 million.

For the thousands of movies and television shows available on iTunes, it is Murph: The Protector that grabs the top spot for documentaries, while receiving the tenth ranking for downloaded movies. When author Gary Williams set out to write Seal of Honor, his simple goal was to achieve a greater awareness for the story of Michael Murphy. Mission accomplished.

Originally under consideration for Academy Awards “Best Documentary,” “Best Song,” and “Best Musical Score,” the documentary tells the story of Michael Murphy in great detail. “They were still doing some editing the morning of the premier of the movie,” Williams says.

The Writing of The Seal of Honor

It began as a quest to write a book about his father, a Korean War veteran, but turned into something much greater. While researching his dad’s book, Williams came across Michael Murphy’s story of receiving the Medal of Honor eight months prior. Intrigued, he sent an email to his father, whom he found through further research was Judge Advocate for the Purple Heart Award. Williams wanted to extend the reach of Murphy’s story and pitched the idea to his dad, Daniel.

One week later, Williams attended a Long Island ceremony, where a post office was dedicated in Murphy’s name. And the story began…

Spending a couple weeks with the Murphy family, Williams gained a greater sense of what made Murphy tick. He believes Seal of Honor and Murph: The Protector pieces bring together the story in a most-accurate and detailed way.

Marcus Lattrell

“If Marcus Lattrell doesn’t make it off that mountain, nobody knows the story of Mike Murphy; nobody knows the story about Operation Red Wings,” Williams says.

Murphy’s story is like a box of puzzle pieces turned over, he says. Turn over one piece, you gain a little understanding of what took place; the second piece, an even greater understanding, but still not the complete story. Turn over all four pieces: The Lone Survivor book and movie, combined with Seal of Honor, and Murph: The Protector, and you have an accurate picture of Operation Red Wings and Lt. Michael Murphy, Williams says.
