The Buckhead Young Republicans hosted their January Chapter meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Georgia State Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens was the primary speaker with Art Gardner also speaking. A straw poll followed.

ATLANTA - Jan. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The Buckhead Young Republicans successfully completed their January chapter meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. The meeting was held at Taco Mac in Buckhead. Over 50 members and guests were in attendance. Georgia State Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens was the main speaker. Mr. Hudgens spoke on a variety of insurance-based topics, including the current status of healthcare in Georgia. U.S. Senate candidate Art Gardner also spoke.

Also in attendance was Georgia House Representative Edward Lindsay, and Georgia HD 54 candidate Beth Beskin. Several other metro YR clubs had members in attendance including Atlanta YRs, Cobb County YRs and DeKalb County YRs.

The Buckhead Young Republicans have been conducting regular U.S. senate straw polls throughout the primary season. Below are the BYR U.S. Senate straw poll results. A total of eight candidates where listed.

Jack Kingston 48.6%
Art Gardner 24.3%
Paul Broun 10.8%
Karen Handel 5.4%
Derrick Grayson for Senate 2.7%
Write In Candidate 2.7%

Poll metrics: 37 total votes cast, more than 50 in attendance, not scientific. Percentages were rounded down to the nearest tenth.

The next BYR meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Taco Mac (573 Main St., Atlanta, GA). The topic will be “Millennials and the GOP: what role do millennials play in 2014 and how can the GOP message to them.”
