VICTORIA, U.K. - Jan. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Chinese Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival, will be on 31 January this year and it will be the Year of the Horse. The nature of the horse zodiac is cheerful, loyal, friendly, hardworking, independent, energetic, subjective and self-centred. The official public holiday in China will be from 31 January until 6 February.

The Lunar New Year is the most important festival for Chinese people. The holiday, which originated during the Shang Dynasty (商朝), celebrates family reunion and during the period families make the effort to get together, similar to Christmas Day celebrations in western cultures.

The festival is celebrated in a variety of regions including mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia (http://www.santranslate.com/languages/malay-translation-services/), Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau. Each region has its own unique traditions regarding the holiday. The festival is also celebrated by Chinese descendants throughout the world. Activities in the UK include an event at The Arcadian in Birmingham, a street fair in Chatham, Kent and a parade at Trafalgar Square, London.

Not all animal zodiac signs are lucky in 2014, according to a Hong-Kong-based feng shui expert. However, the expert states that a person can enhance their luck through the use of certain charms. This expert also predicted that people with the horse zodiac sign will have a stable and satisfactory income in 2014, but he warns that they should cut down on unnecessary expenditures.

Many people, including many prominent business people, follow feng shui, embracing the need to combine the old and the new approach to doing business and becoming successful despite some of the traditional taboos to accumulating wealth in China.

At SanTranslate, we specialise in helping our clients reach the Chinese markets through translating legal, technical and marketing documents, in Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese (http://www.santranslate.com/languages/chinese-english-tra...). During the Chinese New Year period, SanTranslate will be open as normal; however, many of our staff will be visiting families over the period. We, therefore, recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
