LITCHFIELD, Conn. - Jan. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- March Farm in Bethlehem, Connecticut is a 150 acre four-generation family farm that has weathered nearly 100 years of the vagaries while working the land.  In March Farm, author Nancy McMillan follows this local landmark through an annual cycle of preparation and harvest, highlighting the individual members of the March family and their dedication to the farm.   Included are photographs, recipes and essays highlighting the deeper meaning of farming in our culture, and the current issues around local food and farms.

McMillan captures a small microcosm which resonates in today’s world, as ever more people choose to step away from the industrial food chain.  March Farm looks at a way of life which offers a relationship to food that nurtures our bodies and communities.

Nancy McMillian’s essays celebrating Connecticut farm life have been published in Edible Nutmeg and Litchfield County Times.  After moving to Bethlehem in 2000, Nancy fell in love with the farms here and became involved in preserving them.  She wrote this book because she wanted to share a story of a successful farm that is an important part of our small-town community.

Light refreshments will be served. The author will provide books for signing and for purchase.  All Oliver Wolcott Library events are free and open to the public. Space is limited.  Registration is required and can be done by calling 860-567-8030 or logging onto www.owlibrary.org and clicking on Programs/Adult Programs.
