Miami City Ballet Alumni Carlos Miguel Guerra & Jennifer Kronenberg Will Perform Along with 40+ Dancers from Academies in Boca Raton, Fort Myers, Greenacres, Jupiter, Lake Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Pompano Beach, Port St. Lucie, Tampa & West Palm Beach

(West Palm Beach, FL – January 17, 2014) Mauricio Cañete, Founder and director of MC Dance Productions, today announced the line-up for the inaugural FLORIDA YOUTH DANCE GALA, which will be held at the Duncan Theatre, located on the Lake Worth campus of Palm Beach State College, on Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m.

The first FLORIDA YOUTH DANCE GALA will feature will feature dancers Carlos Miguel Guerra and his wife Jennifer Kronenberg, making their first public performance since leaving Miami City Ballet, where they were both Principal Dancers.

The Gala will also showcase more than 40 extraordinarily talented dancers from 11 leading dance academies including:

In addition, the finalist from the Shake the Ground Dance Competition on January 18 will perform.

“We are very excited to have Guest Artists Carlos Miguel Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg be part of our world premiere event,” said Canete. “They were Principal Dancers with Miami City Ballet for more than a decade and have been featured in numerous publications, including Dance Magazine, Point Magazine, Ocean Drive, New Times and more. To have these extraordinary veterans perform alongside our next generation of dancers will be truly extraordinary.”

Dedicated to “celebrating and gathering talented dancers” from all over the state, the FLORIDA YOUTH DANCE GALA will “showcase new choreography, finalists from major dance competitions and some electrifying young dancers, resulting in what may be the most memorable dance event of the coming season,” says Cañete, a former dancer with Houston Ballet, Ballet Florida and Ballet Eloelle, who has performed in England, Russia, Hong Kong, Canada, Austria, Germany, China and throughout the Far East.

Canete said he is already anticipating some of the expected highlights from the upcoming Gala, including:

+ America’s Ballet School from Tampa will showcase Brandon Carpio (16) and Becca Heidenberg (15), both finalists of America’s Dance Competition 2013.

+ School of Ballet Arts in Greenacres will present a brand new piece of choreography that just got 12th place at The (YAGP) Youth America Grand Prix in Tampa 2014.

+ The Arts of Classical Ballet in Pompano Beach will feature Aran Bell (15), who for the past three years has won the top award for his age at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) in New York, an international competition for the most elite pre-professionals.

+ Jerry Opdenaker, a former dancer and choreographer for Ballet Florida, will bring three students from the Florida School for Dance Education in Palm Beach Gardens to perform a new work.

+ Boca Ballet School will showcase 14 beautiful ballerinas with a breathtaking dance piece.
