HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Jan. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Readers keeping asking when the novel Shelter from the Texas Heat will be made into a movie. Author Bobbi Kornblit hopes filmmakers will come knocking on her door.

In the meantime, fans of the book are suggesting actors to play main character Rachel Frank, a redheaded Texan. The list includes some of Hollywood’s top titian-haired leading ladies: Julia Roberts, Emma Stone, Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard and Julianne Moore.

The role of Rosemary, the outrageous pop psychologist, could be filled by Kathy Bates. Kornblit speaks at book clubs and literary events, and the inquiry about the silver screen is a common topic from followers of the work of women’s fiction.

Kornblit stated, “I'm pleased that my characters have come to life on the pages, and I have been told that the fast-paced story unfolds like a film. It has been brought to the stage in a two-hour reading by the Theatre Department of Kennesaw State University, and I would be thrilled for it to appear on the big screen or as a television movie.”

The Book Club Cheerleader, Marsha Toy Engstrom, listed the novel as one of her favorites and also asked about movie possibilities. Her blog featuring an interview with Kornblit, and a review of the book appears at http://bookclubcheerleader.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/shelter-from-the-texas-heat-author-tells-all/

Shelter from the Texas Heat has garnered awards, including the Multicultural-Fiction category of the National Indie Excellence Awards and Best Book / Women’s Fiction for the NABE Pinnacle Achievement Awards. The novel has been compared in reviews to The Help and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.

Recently endorsed by the American Library Association, Shelter from the Texas Heat was listed as one of the 50 best novels about JFK. The tale is set in Dallas and Austin during the “Kennedy Camelot Years” of the 1960s to the present.

It is a story of keeping secrets and the power of friendship, revealed during turbulent times in America. Book clubs select the work of fiction, and their members say they laugh, cry and cheer for the diverse cast of characters.

Main character Rachel Frank leads a charmed life: her husband is an architect in Dallas and her lovely daughter is a coed at UT Austin. Then suddenly, Rachel’s world turns upside down, and her world spins out of control. From funny, turned disastrous moments at a glamorous birthday party at Neiman Marcus, to the painful memories of a Holocaust survivor, Shelter from the Texas Heat, takes readers on an emotional roller coaster ride that even includes a stop at the State Fair of Texas.

Bobbi Kornblit currently instructs advanced grammar at Emory's Professional Learning Programs in Atlanta, Georgia. For over a decade, she covered the arts for newspapers. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and holds a Master of Arts in Professional Writing degree from Kennesaw State University.
