Evan Guthrie Law Firm Does Part To Help With First Day Festival In Charleston, SC

Jan. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina volunteered to help the City of Charleston First Day Festival held in Charleston, SC on Sunday August 18^th 2013. The event was held before the first week of classes in the new school year to help students get ready for class by providing fun and resources. Mr. Guthrie lent his help to the event by distributing back packs and school supplies to the students that gathered for the event and waited in line. The red back packs that were given away at the event were full of supplies including pens and pencils, notebooks, composition books, glue, erasers, rulers, and many more helpful school items. The school supplies were donated by many Charleston, SC area businesses including many local lawyers and law firms with the encouragement of the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar, which held a donation drive with many law firms agreeing to be a location where supplies could be donated and dropped off. There were an estimated five thousand back packs full of supplies that were distributed to school age students in under an hour during the event. Many families and children were lined up for hours prior to the event to gain a chance to receive the supplies. It was a particularly hot day and before it became time to hand out the bags, Mr. Guthrie and other volunteers brought cups of water to those that were in line and could not get any. Mr. Guthrie had a chance to talk to and meet many of those in line and hear their stories.

Attorney Evan Guthrie enjoyed being a part of such a great Charleston, SC area community event and being able to see the smiles on the kids faces as they received their backpacks and school supplies. This was the second year in a row that Mr. Guthrie had volunteered for the event and being assigned to the back pack distribution duty. Attorney Guthrie looks forward to being a part of the event in the future for many years to come.
