Relay For Life New Rochelle NY May 16th,2014
New Rochelle Community comes together to fight Cancer and help bring a great Community together to help many people
survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already
taken too much. The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against
cancer”just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another
birthday this year!
Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking around a track or path a local
high school, park, or fairground. Relay events are overnight, because cancer never sleeps, and each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.
Why We Fundraise:
Every year, the Relay For Life movement raises more than $400 million. The American
Cancer Society puts these donations to work, investing in groundbreaking research in
every type of cancer and providing free information and services to cancer patients and
their caregivers. Were fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer, in your
community and everyone else's.
The funds raised go to American Cancer Society programs that help cancer patients, such as Hope Lodge, Road to Recovery, Look Good Feel Better, Reach to Recovery, and free wig provision. Visit www.cancer.org for more information.
What Makes Relay For Life Special?
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global
phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
Celebrate: During a Relay event, participants and survivors celebrate what they overcome during the Survivors Lap.
Remember: During the Luminaria Ceremony, we remember people lost to cancer, and
honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
Fight Back: The Fight Back Ceremony inspires Relay participants to take tangible action
against a disease that has taken too much.
