American Microsemiconductor Certified For International Standards

Gains ISO 9001:2008 in addition to AS/EN/JISQ 9100:2009 Rev. “C” Certification

MADISON, N.J. - Jan. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- American Microsemiconductor Incorporated (AMS) has been certified to the ISO 9001:2008 standard as well as the AS/EN/JISQ9100:2009 Revision “C” standard by ABS Quality Evaluations in Houston, Texas.  The company’s new certifications fall under a family of standards for quality management systems that are recognized worldwide, identifying those that employ best practices and continuous improvement.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard by the International Organization for Standardization certifies that a company meets specific requirements for a quality management system that demonstrates its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.  A company must also uphold a process for continual improvement.

“The system we use isn’t built on a code-and-forget platform,” said Sean Michaels, Operations Manager of AMS.  “Our PCI compliant management system is being streamlined and extended to compensate for our growth into new market segments.  We also update our inventory on a daily basis and maintain the documentation and test data on our products, such that a product may have over thirty or forty associated columns of data.”

AS9100 standard contains elements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard and its corresponding guidelines, but also supports the FAA’s FAR Title 14 Part 21 required by most aerospace companies as well as the United States government and military bodies.  The additional aerospace-specific requirements apply to quality in design, development, production, distribution, and servicing.

“Our vigilance to the quality and efficacy of our products are what make us a better partner to our customers,” said Michaels.  “We have developed effective systems in data management as well as a staff trained in policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of the products we sell.”

“Over the years we have increased customer satisfaction, greater efficiency in maintaining documentation, gained access to new markets and new market segments, and cut waste and reduced operational costs,” added Michaels.  “It is a great boost to company morale to be recognized for those efforts.  We are in a superb position today to meet and exceed the demand of electronic components worldwide.”
