Designing Women Welcomes New Officers and Announces Ambitious Plans for the Future
During a January 6th luncheon hosted at The Gallery, media representatives were introduced to Designing Women’s new President, Ida Zito, a founding member of the group and a dedicated volunteer who regularly serves on the sales floor. Just prior to the event, Ms. Zito was also recognized by ABC 7 as one of the Suncoast’s Amazing Women.
Other key leaders and officers presented at the luncheon include:
· Tim Self – Board Member
· Pamela Day – Executive Director
· Linda Gross – Board Member Ermeritus
· Jean Weidner Goldstein – Founder and continuing CEO
A major topic of discussion at the luncheon was the group’s plans for significant growth, including expanding its presently owned 4,000 square foot facility in downtown Sarasota to include the purchase of additional square footage. This addition is necessary as the group looks to increase its involvement in estate liquidation and estate planning, and perhaps add a tea room and an art gallery. They recently completed their five-year plan and are in the process of developing a new one to guide the next five years. Group leaders are enthusiastic about the fundraising successes of their Ambassador Guild and Designing Daughters, and they are considering a potential re-branding campaign to better illustrate their charitable nature and range of business activities. The organization is well known for its consignment merchandise, as well as new and vintage fashion, art and home furnishings.
