New Help! is Available to Colorado’s Older Drivers and Their Concerned Drivers

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Jan. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Keeping Us Safe is pleased to announce a new business formation in Ft. Collins, Colorado that will help families deal with the complex and sensitive issue of a loved one’s age-related diminishing driving skills.

Two of Keeping Us Safe’s Certified “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professionals have joined forces and have formed “Pro 31 Safe Senior Driver, LLC”.  The founders of Pro31 Safe Senior Driver will begin serving older drivers and their concerned families in the Intermountain West region effective immediately.

The company was formed by Certified “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professionals Leslie Roy, PT, and Jill Couch, MS, OT, in December, 2013.   “We chose to further the Beyond Driving with Dignity Program through Keeping Us Safe because it provides a compassionate, common-sense, and legitimate way to handle this issue” explains co-founder Leslie Roy.

“Having received training in Keeping Us Safe’s ‘self-assessment program for older drivers’, we are now in a position to help older drivers (and their families) make appropriate decisions regarding the future of one's safe driving career” continues Roy.

“If the individual is a safe driver, we provide him or her with strategies on how to remain a safe driver as they progress through the aging process.  If a driving retirement is the appropriate decision, then we provide the individual (and their family) with acceptable alternatives, resources and a very specific plan to ensure a smooth and successful transition from the driver's seat to the passenger seat.” explains Matt Gurwell, founder of Keeping Us Safe.

Through the formation of Pro31 Safe Senior Driver, Roy and Couch are well-suited to provide older drivers and their families with a very specific program that will help make decisions on how to keep the older driver safe.  “The ‘Beyond Driving with Dignity’ program provides concerned families with the missing link between their desire to bring the driving issue to a peaceful resolution, and their ability to actually do so", explains Gurwell.

“In our time as Physical (Roy) and Occupational Therapists (Couch), we have frequently encountered the issue of seniors with declining driving skills.  When this delicate transition phase in a person's life goes well, it's a positive for seniors, their families, and our communities.  When it doesn't go well, we all lose and the results can quickly turn tragic.” Couch says.

The founders of Pro31 Safe Senior Driver are also certified and licensed to deliver Keeping Us Safe’s two 1-hour presentations for the public:

A Safe Drive Through the Aging Process (meant for older drivers), and

Adults with Aging Parent Drivers
