Brett Skilbred of Jordan Sands Joins Silica and Sand Rulemaking Advisory Panel

MANKATO, Minn. - Jan. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Brett Skilbred, Director of Project Development for Jordan Sands, and a founding member of the Industrial Sand Council, has agreed to serve on the joint Rulemaking Advisory Panel for silica sand rules that are being considered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA ), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), and Environmental Quality Board (EQB).

Members of the panel will include local government representatives from Hay Creek Township, Scott County, Lime Township and City of Wabasha; citizens the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy, Lake City, Goodhue County, Winona County and Houston County. Other Industry representatives are from Fairmount Minerals, Unimin Corp., Jordan Sands, a Sand Mine Operator, Mathy Construction and Aggregate and Ready Mix Association.

The council will be vetting the rules of silica sand that are being considered by the state and local pollution control organizations. Nathan Cooley, the MPCA’s rule coordinator for silica sand, will be the main contact for the panel.

The first Rulemaking Advisory Panel meeting will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the MN State Office Building (http://mn.gov/admin/government/buildings-grounds/building...) where they will discuss the ground rules and the overall rulemaking process.
