This MS Life, a unique community for Newly Diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis Patients, Launches

AUSTIN, Texas - Jan. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- This MS Life (http://www.thismslife.org), which provides one-on-one support connections
for those newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and their caregivers, is now live.

According to site creators, the free service was created by those living firsthand with the condition and was designed to give patients and caregivers a resource for information and connections to others affected by, what can be, a debilitating condition.

According to the National MS Society, more than 2.5 million people are affected worldwide.  This MS Life was created as a clearinghouse to match support seekers and mentors based off of a 40+-question survey.  Matches are handpicked and made on criteria including gender, age, stage of MS, geographic location, language, religion and sexual orientation.  Mentors (http://youtu.be/zEx0DAZONyM) and mentees (http://youtu.be/FreHij11Bvg) connect over the phone, video chat or email.

In addition to the site and matching services, This MS Life also announced a printed guide for newly-diagnosed patients.  Soon to be available in neurology offices around the United States, the guide was written in easy-to-understand language by MSers for MSers.

“A MS diagnosis can be overwhelming not only for the patient, but for their entire support system,” said site founder McCall Teicher. “We created This MS Life so that nobody would have to go through it alone.  We’re here to give advice, provide insight or just listen.  This isn’t a 24-hour call center or a service run by a pharmaceutical company, but rather a unique person-to-person MS community, with matches based off the person, not who happens to be available.”

One-on-One Support may be requested by visiting www.thismslife.org and clicking on ”Connection Request”.
