Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce Achieves Destination Marketing Accreditation

At the first meeting marking Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce 100th year, announcement of accreditation adds to the positive impact this organization run by businesses for businesses has on the community.

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Jan. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce announced at their January 14 meeting at the Manahawkin Holiday Inn it has been awarded accreditation from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP).   DMAP is an internationally recognized accreditation program developed by the Washington, DC based Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI).  In earning the DMAP accreditation, destination marketing organizations (DMOs) communicate to their community, buyers and potential visitors that their DMO has attained a significant measure of excellence.

“The Southern Ocean County Chamber  is honored to receive the Destination Marketing Accreditation from DMAP,” said Lori Pepenella, Director of Destination Marketing and Communications for the regional organization.      “We are very excited to be recognized in the global destination marketing community for providing outstanding services in accordance with international standards and benchmarks of our industry. It dovetails into our strategic regional business development plan for our area.” DMAP accreditation standards cover a wide variety of topics including governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, membership, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, innovation and stakeholder relationships.

“By applying for and receiving DMAP accreditation, the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has demonstrated a commitment to quality programs and services, said Jack Wert, DMAP Board Chair.  “DMAP accreditation communicates to Long Beach Island Region community stakeholders and potential visitors that Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well placed and their business is in good hands.”
