Gerard first embarked upon the building of his own personal development company, Noble Manhattan, in 1996 after the sale of his previous insurance business. He was very attracted to the idea of working with individuals;
His enthusiasm for coaching and the results that coaching can yield remains just as high to this day and is reflected in the phenomenal success he has experienced worldwide. Gerard believes that the time has truly come for coaching and that today’s world needs coaching to allow people to reach deep inside themselves, access their true core values and make a difference. As Gerard says “Coaching really is MAD – it Makes A Difference but it only makes a difference for the good”.
Gerard truly and passionately believes that everybody’s life would be enhanced if they work with a professional coach. When looking to source a professional coach Gerard recommends that the first key step is to get a good understanding of what coaching and mentoring really is, he then suggests making sure an individual does their due diligence and check out adequately the people they are considering having as their coach or mentor. Coaching is at its most effective when there is strong rapport and as such, doing a bit of upfront research will ensure that the process is as effective as it can possibly be.
Gerard’s expertise and hard work have rewarded him with the trust and respect of some of the most prestigious and influential business entrepreneurs of today. His existing coaching clients include the CEO’s of major international charities, senior partners of the world’s biggest private equity firms, and senior producers of the BBC and divisional directors of some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. His coaching and mentoring expertise also encompasses personal life coaching, spiritual coaching, executive coaching and small business owners coaching. Gerard works with clients all over the world as far afield as India, Poland, Spain, Romania and many, many other countries. Wherever he is in the world and whatever he is doing, Gerard’s commitment and passion for empowering others remains at the forefront of his mind.
Gerard’s coaching style is generally described as direct, firm and friendly. He is highly empathetic and understanding but doesn’t let people off the hook and as such, has an established reputation for getting results in a short space of time as the quote below demonstrates:
“I have worked with Gerard O’Donovan for 3 years and in that time I have begun a new business, a Solicitors practice. My business is nearing 2 years old and has grown throughout difficult financial times. I completed the start-up and have achieved the growth with the invaluable assistance I have received from Gerard. I find our telephone conversations stimulating, helpful, and often very difficult as he does take me out of my personal comfort zones.
He supports me by email whenever I need it. He is a formidable source of accountability. He is the MD I need and could never afford I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him.”
Gerard is a highly successful coach because his methods, training and strategies work, over and over again, for hundreds and thousands of individuals who are willing to recognize their weaknesses, build upon their strengths, and change the way they manage their lives to achieve greater success and fulfillment.
Gerard has been a member of the IIC & M for over 10 years now and believes it to be the leading body representing professional coaches worldwide in existence today. For Gerard it’s important to be a member of a body that has solid and consistent ethics, core competencies and code of practice. He also appreciates the hard work done by IIC & M volunteers to go out of their way to really look after the members worldwide
I was at a crossroads in my life where I knew there must be a better way forward than where I was currently heading. It was at this time when I met Gerry, and I’ve since maintained that our meeting was ‘fate’. His motivational and training talks and material, a reflection of his truly positive attitude and direction in life, not only helped me realise a better way forward but that I could take charge of my own life and destiny.
