LONDON - Jan. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Shale UK is a two-day conference taking place in London on the 4th& 5th of March in London to present a state-of-the-art view of geoscience relevant to shale gas exploration, production and environmental management in the UK. Shale UK is organised on behalf of the Geological Society, the world’s oldest geological society.

Shale UK will unite the leading experts in relevant areas of geology with decision-makers, potential investors, representatives from the hydrocarbons and energy supply chain and all stakeholders with an interest in shale gas in the UK. The speaker line up features experts who have helped to shape the UK’s hydrocarbons industry over many years and are helping to shape the future climate for shale gas.

The Science Secretary of The Geological Society, Professor Al Fraser said ‘’Through this summit, we wish to promote the understanding of relevant scientific evidence to a wide range of decision-makers and other stakeholders, to inform discussion and decision-making about shale gas exploration and production in the UK.”

Headline speakers include Lord Ron Oxburgh of Liverpool, Former Chairman of Shell, Member, House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology; Chris Faulkner, President & CEO, Breitling Energy; Huw Clarke, Exploration Geologist, Cuadrilla Resources Ltd; Natalya Ala, Technical Director- Water and Environment, Atkins; Professor Richard Davies, Advisor to Department of Energy & Climate Change, Project Leader of Researching Fracking in Europe, Durham University.
