Actress Keiko Elizabeth Dishes out Discipline on CBS’s “Hawaii Five-0” Airing January 31, 2014
“Hawaii Five-0” recreates the 1968 classic series that follows the Five-0 task force as they keep order on the island of O’ahu. In the episode, “Sins of the Father”, middle school Principal Simms (Elizabeth) helps Danny “Danno” Williams (Scott Caan) see the truth of the saying ‘like father like daughter’ as he learns some hard lessons about parenting his middle school daughter, Grace (Teilor Grubbs).
The role was a natural fit for Keiko, who is a former middle school teacher herself. She adds, “Sometimes a role can seem on the surface very different from who you are, and connecting with that character at a deep level can be very gratifying. But every now and then a role comes along where you think, ‘this is literally me’, and that’s a wonderful process as well.”
Shooting in Hawaii was also homage to Keiko’s early days as a performer. She explains, “Living on the Big Island is where I got my start acting. On a whim, I auditioned for a community theatre production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, and it was that experience performing at the Palace Theatre in Hilo that pushed me to pursue acting professionally.”
Up next, Keiko will be putting on her producer’s hat, stepping in to produce the theatre production of “Disassembly”
