Fifty Percent of All Media Outlets To Use a Paywall by 2015
Fifty Percent of All Media Outlets To Use a Paywall by 2015 if not sooner
According to Cutler, “A paywall is a system used by on-line sites to limit access to content. Paywalls typically prevent readers from seeing more than a handful of stories each month before being required to pay for a digital subscription of some kind. The paywall is part of a strategy by media companies to find additional revenue streams. More than 50% of all media outlets will use a paywall system by 2015, yet sadly more than half will have to suffer the pain of poor execution of such a process. The cost is often a media consumer who washes their hands of such nonsense. There is real value in content and media outlets need to make the value proposition clear, concise, and simple for the customer to continue content consumption and derive perceived value and worth in the relatively minor costs associated.”
