RE:MEMBER WWI, Portraits Through Music

CINCINNATI, OH — concert:nova, Cincinnati’s most innovative chamber music ensemble, is performing their World War I Centennial tribute, RE:MEMBER WWI, Portraits Through Music on February 6th, 2014 at The Carnegie in Covington, KY.

RE:MEMBER takes part in the Cincinnati Opera-led symposium to honor the spirit of those who fought in The Great War. The concert begins at 8 pm where concert:nova, along with the CSO and Cincinnati Ballet performers, will present a stirring program of music written before, during, and after the first World War.

The centerpiece of the program is Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel, who served as a truck and ambulance driver at the front. Each movement  of the work was dedicated to close friends who had fallen in the war. Trench songs, soldier's letters, the music of Bartok and Debussy round out the evening, painting rich personal portraits of the human spirit during one of the bloodiest wars in human history.

Featured performers include narrator Naomi Lewin, soprano Amanda Carmen Bower, Cincinnati Ballet dancers James Gilmer and Maizyalet Velasquez with choreography by James Cunningham.

This event is $25 in advance or $30 at the door, with student tickets available for $10. Visit www.concertnova.com or call us at 513.739.NOVA for more details.
