The Historic Fox Wilson Theater
From the early-1940’s it was known as the Fox Wilson Theater, operated by Fox West Coast Theaters. The Fox Wilson Theater closed as a movie theater in August 1971.
By 1986 and for several years though to at least 1996 it had become a rock concert venue. It is now home to the Cornerstone Church who purchased the building in 1997 and the building has been well maintained, retaining all architectural features.
"The Wilson Theater is in incredible condition," said Dr. Robert Ornelas. "I was invited to visit Cornerstone Church on a Sunday morning service at the Theater. It is an honor to see Pastor Jim Franklin and Cornerstone Church maintain the building. As they support the historic Wilson Theater they have created a high standard for the community of Fresno."
Jim also serves as the founder of Cornerstone Community Care a non-profit organization that partner with local schools to help at-risk youth. He is the founder of Feeding Fresno, an outreach that has provided literally tons of food to needy families over the years.
Cyndi serves as the Music Minister, Women’s Ministry Leader, and Organizer of marriage ministries at Cornerstone Church. Her love and main focus is leading worship at the church. She has produced three personal major vocal recordings and two church choir recordings, to date.
Radio has always been a foundational drive for Jim Franklin. At the young age of 16 he got his first job in radio at a small AM/FM station in his hometown of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He has been involved in radio ever since. Cyndi joined the radio ministry back in the early-eighties when the two of them worked at a Christian radio station in Roswell, New Mexico. They are teaming up again with their noon show “Jim & Cyndy” – on the Central Valley’s Conservative Talk Radio 1680AM KGED from 12 noon – 1pm. Their enjoyable program ranges from local information, inspiration, and political motivation and ultimately with God’s help – the result will be transformation for the Listeners.
In addition to the Christian radio genre, Jim is also the host of a top-rated syndicated radio program “Jim Franklin Live”, which is heard on major secular radio stations throughout central & northern California & locally on KMJ 580am, from 2-4pm every Sundays.
Jim and Cyndi are focused on reaching their city for Christ, and seeing transformation in the community, using every means available.
