Veteran Military Officers Continue To Give Back In Civilian Roles

Jan. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- For over 50 years veterans former military officers have made outstanding contributions to government, corporations, and non-profits while mobilizing around veterans’ issues.   Two of the nation’s leading veterans’ organizations and their team of Advisors are examples of this trend.

Lawrence Penn III is an Advisor for The Vet Voice Foundation – a national non-profit organization that helps veterans continue to serve their country by speaking out on vital, national issues; and VoteVets.org – ensuring that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.

Penn brings both financial expertise and an acute understanding of veterans’ issues to both organizations.  He is Managing Director of the Camelot Group, http://thecamelotgroup.com  - an investment and advisory firm that provides independent advice and private equity asset management to institutions. Penn served as a Captain in the U.S. Army where he led logistics operations in Europe and managed one of the largest military communities in the United States Army European Command. He was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the United States Army General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award (USAREUR), and the United States Army V Corps Distinguished Leader Award.

Returning veterans are hardest hit by economic, social and domestic challenges. They struggle to find jobs, grapple with poverty and its devastating effects, are disproportionately homeless, and many have recently suffered improper foreclosure.  Organizations like the Vet Voice Foundation and VoteVets.org mobilize veterans, support them in their transition, and advocate for the rights and safety of all who serve.
