Jan. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- KANSAS CITY, MO, – Culture Xplorers, a travel company whose signature is delving as deeply as possible into other cultures, announces six exclusive, immersive and active trips to Peru in collaboration with Viventura, a leading tour operator in South America.

The world's only earthquake-themed festival, fireworks, horseracing, dancing, costumes, parades and partying, as well as Machu Picchu and much more, are among highlights of six new nine-day “Active Adventures into the Cultural Heart of Peru” from April through September 2014. The exclusive tours are available only through Culture Xplorers and Viventura. Each small group departure takes in a range of activities focused on the culture, heritage and living traditions of Peru, and each coincides with a vibrant local festival. A full list of all Culture Xplorers programs in Peru (Viventura collaborations and CX signature journeys) can be found online at: http://www.culturexplorers.com/destinations/peru.

"Collaboration is healthy for our industry and a wonderful way to learn, connect and share best practices,” says Jim Kane, founder/owner of Culture Xplorers (http://www.culturexplorers.com/).

"I admire Viventura's emphasis on sustainability and respect their vision and leadership. That's why it's thrilling to have crafted this value-oriented series of Peru trips for Viventura which deliver active, meaningful, high-emotion adventures in one of our all-time favorite destinations."

"These unique tours are a fantastic chance to experience the real Peru, with its rich cultural heritage, traditions and history," Andre Kiwitz, CEO of Viventura (http://www.viventura.com/).
Tours that begin at $2,599 per person double include eight nights in boutique hotels, lodges and/or unique properties; meals as specified (eight breakfasts, seven lunches and two dinners); private ground transportation throughout the trip; entry fees and permits for museums, trails, national parks and monuments; local, bi-lingual guides; emergency oxygen supply while visiting high-altitude; purified water and private airport transfers. Not included are international air and domestic airfare Lima/Cuzco/Lima (approximately $385 USD).

Even as Culture Xplorers and Viventura are launching their new collaboration with these signature adventures in Peru, a series of North Argentina experiences is already in the works for 2014, with the potential for additional collaborative journeys and South America destinations in 2015.

“Whereas museums offer curated snapshots of a culture’s past, local festivals offer a vibrant, visceral connection to regional customs in their most colorful incarnations” observes Kane. "Our mission is to change the way people travel; to make the experience of travel more engaged, more connected and more reciprocal for both the travelers and the local communities with which we come into contact and that so generously enrich our understanding of the world."

About Culture Xplorers

Culture Xplorers (http://www.culturexplorers.com/), a leader in sustainable travel, offers handcrafted journeys that deepen understanding and foster connection between travelers and local communities around the world.

Culture Xplorers trips are created from the ground up, built on three founding pillars: people, traditions and impact. Their travelers meet the people of the places they visit, engaging in the living traditions that make each destination unique, and in doing so, create a lasting, positive impact through tourism. Genuine connections with people and place are formed farm-to-fork and around the table, via participation in local celebrations and through authentic exchange with community leaders and members.

Countries where cultural exchanges are fostered are Peru, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Portugal and Cuba. The Culture Xplorers Foundation was founded in 2007 to help foster the sustainability of local culture in at risk communities worldwide. Its positive impact partnerships focus on sustaining endangered traditions, strengthening education, fostering community-based travel and breaking the cycle of poverty through the support of comprehensive micro-loan and education programs.  See: http://www.cxfoundation.org/
