Henry Montag, CFP to Speak on Preventing Premature Expiration of Life Insurance Policies

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Jan. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- UNIONDALE, NY January 9^th, 2014 – Henry Montag, CFP, CLTC, of Financial Forums, Inc., will be speaking on the significant financial threat to hundreds of thousands of owners of life insurance policies; a threat that results from the sustained low interest rate environment and as many as two decades of neglect on the part of owners and trustees who were unaware of the need for active management and regular evaluation of a contract’s performance.

Joining Mr. Montag in his presentation at the Nassau Suffolk State Society of CPAs Annual Symposium, will be Randy Whitelaw, AEP, of The TOLI Center and Distinguished Fellow and Lecturer at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning at the University of Miami School of Law.

“Life insurance is an asset,” Mr. Montag says. “One that needs to be actively managed and have its performance monitored and evaluated. Going forward, life insurance must be treated as any other asset class.”

Mr. Montag points out that, in October 2013, The TOLI (Trust-Owned Life Insurance) Center estimated that as much as $1 trillion in trust-owned life insurance policies, originally earmarked for a family’s next generation or for a charity, could expire prematurely unless immediate corrective action is taken.

The presentation will cover the consequential liabilities as well as the corrective strategies that must be taken in order to mitigate any losses to date as well as prevent further erosion of a clients’ tax-free life insurance assets.

Both CLE and CE credits will be granted to CPAs and attorneys for this presentation.

Mr. Montag’s presentation is part of the Annual Symposium of the Nassau Suffolk State Society of CPAs, which will take place from 9:00AM to 5:15PM this Saturday, January 11^th 2014 at the Melville Marriot Long Island.
