Second Bible Camp Mystery Now Available in Audio
A new audiobook by Christian author Cheryl Rogers tells a harrowing tale of adventure in the Central Florida backwoods, while sharing biblical principles with preteens and teens.
“Alone in the Woods is the story of a sick woman named Sandy who lives in a tent to avoid electricity,”
The Boy’s Den, a group of 10 to 16 year old boys, travel to the backwoods with Harrigan, a former New York gang leader, to get closer to God and nature. They always get more than they bargained on, however.
In the first Bible Camp Mystery, Lost in the Woods, 13-year-old Zack disappears in the middle of the night, leaving the other campers to search for him while a hurricane approaches the Gulf Coast. He is missing for 30 hours before being found by a helicopter pilot.
Harrigan does his best to avoid the problems of the first trip, but encounters a whole new set of obstacles in this second adventure. First, two boys make a quick detour to explore what appears to be blue tent in the backwoods. The trouble is, no one knows they’re gone until the group takes a hiking break. The wilderness guide gets lost. The chef goes missing. And when a forest fire strikes the edge of the forest, threatening homes and campers, it’s time to head home.
Alone in the Woods is packed with adventure, but it’s also a story about God’s love and compassion for a sick woman few people truly understand. Living virtually like a hermit, Sandy has little contact with anyone but her parents and the rangers – until Brad and Chang discover her discreet campsite.
Harrigan demonstrates what it’s like to have a servant’s heart when he sets aside his own personal preferences, visits Sandy and shares the knowledge of God with her. When the group prays for her, she is healed.
“This book shows the power of pray in action,” Rogers says. “God does indeed still heal today.”
