Hollywood Sketch Group Premiers First of It's Kind Web Series - Live

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- 'The 5 Minute Sketch Show', with the support of IO West, will be hosting a live event January 10th.  They will be screening the first three episodes of their much-anticipated new web series. Several other notable comedy sketch teams from Los Angeles will also be showcased in the hour-long event. Attendees should arrive early to take advantage of IO West's happy hour starting at 6:30PM; the show begins 8 sharp at 6366 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90028.

"Today's internet viewer wants to cram in as much entertainment as possible while surfing from site to site. Often the typical three to six minute comedy sketches found on Youtube and similar sites get passed over, no one wants to invest that time to wait for a laugh." says Mike Cochnar, Co-Creator of the show. "Through the joined efforts of five veteran comedy content creators we've come up with the answer to keeping viewers engaged - short, rapid-fire sketches packed into five minutes" explained Co-Creator, SteevJBrown.

'The 5 Minute Sketch Show' was first developed by SteevJBrown, Mike Cochnar and Jason Kaye, to fundamentally change the way people watch videos on YouTube. Loosely modeled after SNL's successful magazine style format and embracing the short attention span of the Vine generation, they keep videos short and to the joke, one right after the other. Currently, 'The 5 Minute Sketch Show' is the only web show of its kind on the Internet.

Once it became apparent that the show was a fresh idea, two more talented comedians, Garrett Mendez and Choni Francis, joined the producing team. The production team is composed of a skilled crew who've shot for National Geographic, NASA, Discovery Channel, ESPN and Sony. The show's cast and writing team is composed of alumni from some of Hollywood's most sought after comedy schools, including The Second City, Groundlings, UCB and IO West. Their credits include national television ads such as Olive Garden, Lowes, Anheuser Busch, NFL and Samsung and the feature films Simi Pro, Step Brothers and Transformers. They’ve also been featured in numerous web-series, which have garnered over a million combined views. By casting talent that has already built a vivid web presence, they plan to capitalize on their existing fan base. "Recently we've caught the attention of Fullscreen, the leading marketing network on YouTube.  Based only on our promotional videos, they have asked to represent us," added Jason Kaye.

The live event will be held at IO West and will include digital sketches from fellow comedy groups from the Los Angeles area including: Wolf Knife Productions, The Kloons, Joy Camp, Cascade Up, Jason Horton, Sparklepuss, Jen Kater Comedy, and Comedy Sauce. The hour-long program will include drink specials and prize giveaways.
