NEW YORK - Jan. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Seasoned American Educator writes first hand account of his journey in "My Seasons in Saigon"

After a thirty year career in higher education, including serving as vice president at the University of Miami and as president of Roger Williams and Newbury College in New England, Roy Nirschel set off on a journey to Southeast Asia to help create the first American university in Vietnam, nearly a half century after the end of the war.

According to the publisher, Create Space Publishing Platform "what began as a season in Saigon morphed into years; coming as a teacher, but ending up as a student, exploring and absorbing the food, fiath, fun, oddities and traditons of Vietnam, a place he considers home".

Nirschel writes with candor and without fear, despite running the risk of criticism in Vietnam, but his book is filled with insight, concern, and respect for the Vietnamese and their desire for education.

The book is a good read for those interested in travel to Southeast Asia, international educators, or those for whom Vietnam remains a powerful and distant memory.
