By: altibbi.com The Diabetes Workshop kicked off on Saturday December 7th 2013, where analysis and talks were carried out. Participation on the first day exceeded 50 women of all ages. Registered nurse volunteers, brought by JDS, were able to check each woman for diabetes, H1AC and blood pressure, and briefed them about diabetes drugs and healthy diets for managing the disease. The workshops will take place every Saturday at the Jerash Women's Center, for a period of six weeks to continue follow up with the women, and will enable them to understand the disease and how to care for people who suffer from it. The activities will provide comprehensive and authoritative information about the disease, its symptoms, treatments, side effects and prevention. In a survey carried out by members of the Altibbi.com team about the health status of the participants, the findings showed that 45% of the sample suffer from obesity, which is a leading factor for diabetes. Hence, the following weeks will include primary focus on nutritional education and maintaining a healthy diet, as well as refuting some of the widely spread misconceptions about diets and diabetes. To this effect, Altibbi.com has dedicated a special section on its website to diabetes and all the information a patient needs from news, articles, educational videos, and drug encyclopedias, as well as distinguished doctors from around the Arab world to answer patients’ inquiries.
