Jan. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Evans & Jones at Tanerdy Garage will unveil the distinctive forecourt livery of Gulf this week as the family business looks to the future after 85 years with Shell. The decision to change fuel suppliers is seen as a positive step for customers and will strengthen the site’s long term prospects.

Established by Tommy Evans in 1928, the site was handed down to son Ken who successfully guided the garage through the difficult times of fuel shortages and the arrival of the supermarkets in Carmarthen. In 2008 after a short illness, Ken passed away and his daughter Karen Smith became the third generation of the family to operate the long established business. In partnership with husband Stephen, a major refurbishment of the forecourt and site shop was undertaken in 2010.

The shop now includes a large kitchen and preparation area and offers a range of filled baguettes and sandwiches that are made daily with local Hafod Bakery bread. Early morning bacon butties and night time pizzas have also been a great success. New fresh food items will soon be available along with baked potatoes and rotisserie chickens and joints. Several new suppliers have greatly improved the range and value of the grocery items stocked, to include fresh fruit and vegetables.

The final part of the development is the key decision to change fuel supplier. Certas Energy, the guardian of the Gulf brand in the UK,has a proven track record in its support for the independent fuel retailer backed by a nationwide delivery service. Gulf is a strong and historic brand, synonymous with high quality fuels and lubricants.

“Certas Energy is entering into a partnership with Tanerdy Garage that allows and encourages us to develop our business as local needs and demands require,” says Karen Smith. “This is a very positive move from a progressive and more flexible company with the highest quality range of fuels to ensure excellent performance. I am confident that with Certas Energy’s support and the distinctive Gulf brand, we will attract new business to Tanerdy Garage, allowing us to serve the local community well into the next century.”

The site prides itself on its service levels and with continued growth and development anticipated three new and local staff members have recently been employed.

“Our staff are responsible for the success of Tanerdy Garage,” continues Stephen. “They are knowledgeable in so many areas of the business from knowing how to operate a modern till system with lottery and pay point equipment to mending a coffee machine and baking 200 savoury pastry items every morning. Even stocking shelves continually requires hard work and organisation. The whole team at Tanerdy is feeling optimistic about our future with Certas Energy.”
