Eco affordable sounds like it is a place that runs off the grid, and that I can find that is less expensive. I thought I would have to compromise size, could I find something big enough to fit my family? Would I have to compromise size of living space with affordablity. Not true! Visit http://www.redcanyoncabin.com to see how you can have it all.
We all have those friends that tell us how smart or how dumb our decisions are but those friends who are offering their opinions most likely are giving you all the reasons they haven't moved forward in getting what they want. It's funny in a way, we listen to them. Especially when they validate our negative thinking, we feel supported in an odd way. Wouldn't you want to be supported on the positive side? Take my conversation with a friend as I was looking at building a cabin. I believed it would cost upto $500,000 for an average size cabin. I had looked at so many cabins I believed I established a really good guess. My friend said, "No way, our cabin cost us less than $80,000." I wanted to know more because I was way more comfortable with her price than mine.
Then I started thinking, WHERE did they build their cabin? Was it in a romote place with nothing around it and did I have to travel far if I forgot something at the store? I did my homework and research by asking questions from friends who have built and owned a cabin. How much did it cost them to build? Answers ranged anywhere from $250,000 to $500,000. I wasn't that far off, sadly however, I wanted the cabin to be just as convienent as my home. Duh ... I was building a cabin to offer me a great comfortable get away, not a place that I was going to live in for months at a time. I altered my guestimate for cost believing it to be closer to the $250,000 price. Keep in mind these estimates for building a cabin I found was EXCLUDING land price, at least in Southern Utah area. That was the 'catch.' I went back to my drawing board. I couldn't see anyway my friends $80,000 price tag was doable. It could be IF it was located in "No Man's Land" where you get privacy but nothing else. AND how large was the cabin and other details. I knew then Eco Affordable Cabin Living was possible but I wanted the best of both worlds; low cost, high efficiency, the ideal location close to multiple tourism locations, and I didn't have to drive far to get there. I began looking in my own backyard, Southern Utah.
