Jack Daniel’s 50 Barrel Christmas Tree Appears on Snowy King West

TORONTO - Jan. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Appearing this Christmas week 2013, in front of the Hive Strategic agency at 544 King Street West in Toronto, is the first built project of Gary Erickson Architect in Toronto. Composed of 50 Jack Daniel’s Barrels stacked six tiers high on a railed wooden platform raised above King street, the decoration attracted lots of attention this holiday season. The new King West architectural firm has been using the new 3d BIM software Revit, to integrate the design of complex forms on their surroundings, assist engineering and construction, while efficiently producing all the required building permit drawings for the city of Toronto.

Behind all the barrels, the hidden structure for the tree was designed by Ernie Leung, owner of JIT engineering. Ernie’s tree structure had a central pole and tube steel branches, attached to a heavy wood platform base, similar to a real tree structure. High above the street, the glowing star is mounted on top of the central support pole.

The client Hive Strategic worked with the specialist contractor Carvel Burrel of Burrel Inc. to finish the final decoration of the festive tree.
