MANASSAS, Va. - Jan. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- CHEMetrics, Inc., founded by Gordon Rampy in 1969 is preparing to enter its forty-six year in business.  As a company with an unwavering commitment to providing premium customer service and innovative water analysis solutions, CHEMetrics has become the trusted water analysis brand around the globe.

When Gordon Rampy developed the first self-filling ampoule test for colorimetric water analysis, he knew he was holding the key to innovative water testing.  This product was uniquely designed to provide simplicity, convenience, speed and safety.  Today, his vision is the guide for the development of CHEMetrics’ line of tests for over fifty analytes.

The success of the CHEMetrics brand is largely due to some of its most innovative testing products, such as the following.

Ammonia Test

Excessive concentrations of ammonia in water are highly toxic to aquatic life.  While low concentrations occur naturally as plant and animal matter decay, high concentrations can indicate contamination from waste treatment facilities, raw sewage, industrial effluents and fertilizer runoff.  The CHEMetrics test employs the Nessler reagent and can alert the analyst to ammonia levels in one minute.

Peracetic Acid Test

Peracetic acid is widely used in the food and beverage industry to disinfect equipment such as pasteurizers, tanks, pipelines, evaporators and contact surfaces.  The CHEMetrics Peracetic Acid test is reliable for detecting peracetic acid in parts per million and is immune to hydrogen peroxide interference.

Hydrogen Peroxide Test

Like chlorine and peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide has strong oxidizing qualities, and is used to treat industrial effluents, domestic wastewater and to disinfect aseptic packaging.  CHEMetrics Hydrogen Peroxide tests are popular in the food and beverage industry where they are used to monitor packaging and sanitizing processes for household products.

Sulfide Test

Sulfides naturally occur in groundwater as sulfur leaches from mineral deposits.  While surface waters do not usually contain high concentrations of sulfide, harmful levels can occur during the decomposition of organic matter and various chemical processes.  The CHEMetrics test kit detects and measures total acid soluble sulfides in parts per million.

Dissolved Oxygen Test

Dissolved oxygen is often measured as a direct indication of water quality.  While aquatic plants produce oxygen, microorganisms consume it and ultimately affect fish and other aquatic life.  At elevated temperatures, dissolved oxygen can be highly corrosive and cause pitting in high-pressure boilers.  CHEMetrics tests are highly effective in detecting dissolved oxygen in parts per billion and parts per million. Test results are obtained in one to two minutes.

Chlorine Test

Chlorine is a popular biocide used to treat potable water systems because of its oxidizing properties.  It helps alleviate adverse effects associated with iron, manganese, ammonia and sulfide.  CHEMetrics applies a USEPA-approved testing methodology to measure chlorine in parts per million.

As a company, CHEMetrics, Inc. has built its name on providing safer, simpler and faster water analysis solutions.  We remain committed to that tradition and strive to deliver innovative products that are dependable in the laboratory and out in the field.  Our technical support team is always a quick phone call or email away, to provide customers with prompt and helpful answers to their questions.
