IFWTWA Announces 2013 Emerging Writer Scholarship Award Winner

TEMECULA, Calif. - Jan. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- January 1, 2014, Temecula, CA – The International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) Awards Committee is pleased to announce the winner of its 2013 Food, Wine and Travel Writing Scholarship Award in the Emerging Writer category. This year, Hilarie Larson of Temecula, California, earned the award for her story “A Simple Guide to Burgundy Wine (with maps),” originally published on the website Wine Folly.

According to Allen Cox, IFWTWA Awards Committee Chair, “Ms. Larson is a professional in the wine industry who, in her story, demystifies the world of wines from Burgundy. The article is well structured, informative and even contains enough history, humor and local color to keep readers with her to the end.”

“As a Wine Educator, I find that the written word combined with the internet is the best way to spread the gospel of the grape,” Larson says. “To say that I love to talk and write about wine is a huge understatement and, in order to bring the real story to readers, I feel it’s imperative to visit as many wine related destinations as possible.”

Larson was awarded a one-year regular membership in IFWTWA; publication in Global Writes, IFWTWA's online magazine; a cash prize and a Scholarship Award Certificate.
